Songs, Stories & Solidarity: Celebrating Irish LGBT Immigrant History

March 4, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Songs, Stories & Solidarity: Celebrating Irish LGBT Immigrant History

The Pride Center of Staten Island is excited to announce a night of celebration and honor for the Irish community. On March 4, 2023 at 7pm, join us at Cargo Cafe on Bay Street as we lift our spirits and raise the roof on the eve of the St. Patrick’s Parade on Staten Island.

The highlight of the evening will be Brendan Fay, global LGBTQ activist and filmmaker, who will share stories of Irish LGBT immigrant history and of Irish Americans who helped pave the way for LGBT equality. This promises to be a night of music, stories, and solidarity as we come together to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Irish community.

As a special treat, we are thrilled to have two renowned Irish musicians, Brian Fleming and Ray Hegarty, joining us for the night. Brian Fleming, a founding member of the Afro-Irish bands De Jimbe and Tig Linn, has been working with New York’s inclusive St. Pat’s For All Parade since 2001 and is the co-director of the Big Bang Festival of Rhythm in Dublin. Ray Hegarty is a lens-based socially engaged artist who works with women in addiction and recovery.

We welcome you to bring a song, bring a story, and bring a friend as we come together to celebrate Irish culture and LGBT history. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of an unforgettable night of solidarity and connection.

The Pride Center of Staten Island is proud to serve as Staten Island’s LGBT community center and a safe and welcoming space for all. Join us for an evening of Songs, Stories & Solidarity on March 4, 2023, and let’s celebrate together.
